GREETHAM is a hamlet set in beautiful rolling landscape, yet very near to local amenities.
Greetham is situated less than half a mile off the main A158 & only 3 miles from the pretty market town of Horncastle ( winner of the “ Best Antiques Town 2001”) and 10 miles from Louth.
A 20 minute drive eastwards takes you to the coast, Skegness, Gibraltar Point, Mabelthorpe... and 25 miles to the west is Lincoln, with its wonderful cathedral, “Steep Hill” & cobbled streets.
Woodhall Spa, with excellent golfing facilities & the famous “Kinema in the Woods”, is 7 miles to the southwest.
Cadwell Park motorcycle & car racing, is about a 10 minute drive to the northeast
Spilsby, a pretty market town is 7 miles to the southeast.
Tennyson’s House (birthplace) at Somersby is only 2 miles away
The countryside around Greetham is an excellent walking area, quiet and picturesque, as well as being of historic interest. As it is situated near the southern edge of the Wolds, its elevated position will give you a marvellous panoramic view, including Boston to the south and Lincoln to the west.
Nature reserves, Snipe Dales, fishing and golf courses are only a short drive away.
Lovely rolling landscape & wonderful starry skies!
At almost 400’ above sea level, our village is the third highest point in Lincolnshire. Because it is an area with hardly any light pollution, this allows us to enjoy the most wonderful starry skies...this is helped by the fact that the East of England is an area with the lowest rainfall in the UK so we have frequent cloudless nights.
The landscape of the Lincolnshire Wolds has rolling uplands and dry valleys and was designated in 1973 as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. see where we are
Greetham is now a quiet hamlet
of less than twenty houses
with a pretty little pond which
is home to a family of
ducks and coots.
The pond reputedly dates from
Roman times and was mentioned
in the Domesday Book of 1087.
Nearby, in Jolls Lane, Beech Farm boasts one of the
oldest mud & stud houses in England, recently restored to
its former glory. It is rumoured that Oliver Cromwell slept there
the night before the Battle of Winceby, which took place less
than a mile away in 1643.
